It chronicles India's evolution through religious, literary, and scientific achievements from ancient to modern times.

Romesh Chunder Dutt (1848–1909), an Indian civil servant and economic historian, advocated for Indian economic nationalism. He qualified for the Indian Civil Service in 1869, becoming the first Indian to reach the rank of divisional commissioner. He played a significant role in the Indian National Congress and contributed to Bengali literature, notably with "The Literature of Bengal." Dutt's economic history thesis focused on India's de-industrialization under British rule, earning him recognition and shaping nationalist discourse.
