About The Book

A History of Quyi in the Republic of China Period consists of 35 articles, compiled by the author Cai Yuanli from her 24 years of research on Chinese quyi. Most of the articles document the flourishing urban quyi activities of that period. Through representative content-performers, artistry, works, and the different developmental trajectories of various quyi genres-the book depicts the prosperity and development of quyi during the Republican era.
