It's generally thought when referring to a start-up, that we're talking about a technological enterprise dreamed up by an entrepreneur or group of entrepreneurs' who 'know' that their project could make a very real impact on the real world. The start-up can also be a new company that has developed a business plan, raised the funding required for the venture and is now ready to implement the business model describes in the business plan and for which the money was raised. It's also assumed that in order to implement this type of project, the entrepreneurs must be aware of the inner working of technology, finance, processes needed to implement their business plan as well as all other processes required to make the project a reality. And if this wasn't enough, they must also have an academic education in Business Management and/or have to recruit a person with these abilities in order to guarantee success. Given all this, then their success is guaranteed - or is it? My position on this is totally different. I am convinced that the potential to succeed can be found in all of us, providing we are able to understand the realities objectively, unbiased by our personal opinions. This book will present different business models taken from cyber space but whose origins are in traditional commercial (low-tech) ventures as well as advanced technological (Hi-Tech) ventures whose success is dependent on the number of parameters that must be examined subjectively and in real time. Over the years, I have followed many technological and internet ventures all of which, theoretically, had the characteristics and parameters' that world experts in business management felt ensured their success. Hover, reality showed otherwise. I was also exposed to businesses from the more traditional world of commerce which, following proper business planning and the strict implementation of all required steps and procedures, created an environment for the marketing of their product or service not only in the real world, but, through clever and considered moves, also on the Internet. As a result, they survived those critical first years and skyrocketed to success. The question I would ask is this: Is it possible that the mathematicians were wrong and that business models are fed by many different parameters that are not taken from the world of the exact sciences? Additionally, is it these same parameters that changed the rules and brought about the success of failure of a project? Is it possible that a business plan, however professional and well thought out, when forced to deal with new variables over a specific period of time and during the model's development, could lead to the success on one venture and the failure of another? Is it possible that a person with little knowledge of the internet but who is assisted by his experience and personal relationships, will succeed in his venture? My name is Advocate Dr. Ehud Roffeh - I have five degrees in computers and information systems, mathematics, business management and law. Over the past decade I have written professional literature in the fields of business management, law, IT systems and the Internet and I lecture at academic institutions. I also perform value evaluations for web sites, software companies and start-ups. In this book, I will present business models taken from cyber space that could, even if only to a small extent, assist in reaching vital decisions and help the venture throughout all the processes and procedures required in order to establish the venture and until the backers dream is realized. Together, we shall analyses the various models, point out and discuss the variables that must be taken into consideration, examine financial models in relation to cultural models deriving from demographic changes and other data. Your success is my success. So, let's get started...
