About The Book

""A Jury of Her Peers"" is a short story written by Susan Glaspell in 1917. The story is set in the early 20th century in a rural farmhouse in Iowa where a group of neighbors, including two women, are investigating the murder of John Wright, who was strangled in his sleep. The women, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, accompany their husbands, who are part of the official investigation team, to the farmhouse.While the men are searching for clues and evidence, the women discover a birdcage and a dead bird that had been killed in the same manner as John Wright. The women begin to piece together the events leading up to the murder and realize that John Wright's wife, Minnie, was likely responsible for the crime. They also discover that Minnie had been isolated and abused by her husband, leading to her eventual breakdown and violent act.As the investigation continues, the women must decide whether to reveal their findings to their husbands and the authorities or to keep them hidden to protect Minnie.
