Barbara's early childhood can truly be likened to a quote from a poem (Mother to Son} by the renown poet, Langston Hughes, "Life for me ain't been no crystal stair." For like most true writers, the source of their gift comes through enduring painful and horrendous circumstances.

Barbara Blackmon has always had a passion for writing. She believes with all of her heart that the seemingly impossible is indeed possible. With God on her side, she is turning her dream of becoming a writer into a reality. She was given up at the age of 8 months. Her oldest sister, Lelia Ann Griffin, raised her until she was 1 year old then placed in a foster home. At the age of 6, she was adopted by Monroe and Willie Blackmon of St. Louis, MO. Barbara's first book "A New Beginning" is a dream that has been fulfilled and has open up many doors for her to embark upon. Barbara delights in worshipping and praising her Lord; she is a faithful member of Inspiring Body of Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Rickie Rush of Dallas, TX. He relationship to her God has helped her go through coutless hardships; and surviving adversities has made her stronger and more determined to succeed and not give up on her dreams. And in Barbara's case, she also has a heart to help the hurting. Her compassionate spirit compels her to reach out and encourage others to press on -NO MATTER WHAT!
