This book"On the Utility of Examining Hindu Philosophical Systems" provides an in-depth exploration of various facets of Hindu philosophy. It commences with an introductory overview and a blueprint for the treatise. Subsequent sections delve into distinct schools of Hindu thought, encompassing the Sankhya doctrine, Nyaya, Vaiseshika, and Vedanta. Each chapter meticulously scrutinizes specific tenets within these systems, encompassing their perspectives on God, the soul, morality, immorality, and liberation. Furthermore, it presents critical assessments of Vedanta's standpoints concerning the Supreme Spirit, the illusory nature of the world, and the soul's identity with Brahma. This work delivers a thorough and insightful analysis of Hindu philosophical systems.

Nehemiah Nilakantha Sastri Goreh (1825-1895), originally bearing the name Nilakantha Gore, experienced a conversion from Hinduism to Christianity during the British Indian era. In his earlier years, he defended Hinduism through writings such as "Śāstra-tattva-vinirṇaya" and "Doubts Concerning Christianity." Following his conversion to Christianity and adopting the name Neremiah Goreh, he authored works that critiqued Hinduism, including "Shad-darshana Darpana: Hindu philosophy examined by a Benares pandit" (1860), which was also published as "A Rational Refutation of the Hindu Philosophical Systems" in 1862, and "Vedantmat ka bichar aur khristiyamat ka sar" (1853, "Vedantism and the essence of Christianity"), both written in Hindi. Fitz-Edward Hall (1825 -1901) was a distinguished American Orientalist and philologist. He holds the distinction of being the first American to edit a Sanskrit text and played an early collaborative role in the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) project.
