A String of Pearls is the adventure of a lifetime for Chiquita Costen, born Jule Martha Smith on July 13, 1933. She is the daughter of Jule Benjamin Smith Jr. and Martha Walker Ligon. He father became a Diplomat for the State Department which in turn made Chiquita a Diplobrat. Her world-wide travels culminated with adventure, education, sprinkled with a little espionage and danger but also full of love and knowledge. Go on that adventure from Washington D.C. to Spain, Czechoslovakia, Prague; Paris, France; Kostancin, Poland; Berlin, Germany. She witnessed the beginning of WWII, and the angry obscenty ridden speech of Hitler. Chiquita was educated at world renowned boarding schools most famously the Brillantmont International School in Lausanne, Switzerland. She learned to speak several languages and was presented to King George VI along with the rest of the royal family in a luncheon ceremony. Marvel at the life stories of love, adventure, excitement, and sometimes danger. Follow along with Chiquita as she weaves Historical events during one of the most tumultuous times in history with the life she led as a Diplobrat.

Costen, Chiquita: - Chiquita Costen, born at German Hospital in Beunos Aires, Argentina, is an experienced writer. She was also witness to a portion of history, WWII, in a unique way; as a Diplomats daughter making her a Diplobrat. She has been a part of the Creative Writing and Literature Department of The Woman's Club of Fort Worth for decades. She has written many stories about her long and event filled life and has been published in the book Thanks for the Memories, An Anthology of Prose and Poetry. She has a witty and intelligent writing style. Her stories will keep readers hanging on every word and turning page after page while referencing the events she experienced firsthand. Reader can also admire the photos included in her book A String of Pearls; so titled due to an event occurring upon Chiquita's mother learning she was expecting her first and only child. Chiquita is a well-versed lady in etiquette, writing, painting and entertaining. All of which she does regularly with family and friends where she resides in Fort Worth, Texas.

Miller, Joyce: - Joyce Miller, a retired school psychologist lives in Fort Worth, Texas with her husband of 58 years, Dan Miller. They enjoy extensive travel, ballroom dancing and celebrations and holidays with their extended family of children and grandchildren. She was first published in Thanks for the Memories, An Anthology of Prose and Poetry. Joyce is a former chairman of the Creative Writing and Literature Department of The Woman's Club of Fort Worth. Joyce enjoys reading, music, playing bridge, Bible study and spending time with cherished friends, grandparenting and hanging out with her husband Dan.
