A visual journey through the abandoned remnants of Colorado's mining history.

Abandoned Western Colorado: Ghost Towns and Mining Camps of the Rockies takes the reader on a visual voyage through the ghost towns and mining camps of the Rocky Mountains of western Colorado as seen through the eyes of author, historian and photographer, Jeff Eberle. The author has spent much of the last decade scouring the back roads, 4 x 4 trails, and footpaths of the Centennial State in a rush against time and progress to photograph the fragile remnants of Colorado's earliest days.

From solitary prospector's huts in remote back country gulches, to the weather-beaten facades of boom towns gone bust, the author has attempted to capture a few final images of Colorado's rapidly vanishing past.

The author hopes to help raise awareness and public interest in the preservation and protection of Colorado's historic sites and structures. What one might see as merely an old, rusty eyesore, another sees as an aged beauty who stood silent witness to the hard work and struggle that gave birth to the Colorado we know and love today.

Eberle, Jeff D.: - Jeff D. Eberle is an author, photographer, and amateur historian. Over thirty years ago, at the age of twelve, he began collecting militaria, with a special emphasis on authentic World War II photographs. The main areas of focus of his collection are images from the Eastern Front and images depicting small arms in use. Over the last three decades, his photo collection has grown to number in the thousands. As well as collecting, Eberle also deals in, appraises, and authenticates wartime photographs. The author was born, raised, and lives in Colorado.
