Jahrhunderts Einzug in mannigfaltige Wissensdisziplinen, so auch in die Kriminalanthropologie im Deutschen Kaiserreich. An diesem Punkt lassen sich die Fragen stellen, welche Strategien im kriminologischen Diskurs des 19. Jahrhunderts angewandt wurden, um einen Konnex zwischen Verbrechen und körperlicher Abnormität ziehen zu können. Inwiefern wurde der "Verbrecherkörper" kategorisiert und auf animalischen Entwicklungsstufen zurückgeführt? Welche Bedeutung spielten dabei rassistische Überlegungen? Es bleibt zu fragen, welchen Stellenwert biologistische Theorien in der Bekämpfung von menschlichem Gefahrenpotential einnahmen. Ziel dieser Arbeit soll es sein, herauszufinden, welche Vorstellungswelten über Delinquenz zu Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts in der Kriminalanthropologie existierten und wie sie mittels der zur Verfügung stehenden Erkenntnissysteme er-schlossen und diskursiv formierten wurden. Es soll dargelegt werden, welche Erklärungsmuster und Motivkomplexe in kriminalbiologischen Abhandlungen verwendet wurden, um ein kausales Verhältnis zwischen Kriminalität und Atavismus oder Degeneration herzustellen. Übergeordnet lassen sich die Thesen aufstellen, dass die Kriminalanthropologie des 19. Jahrhunderts kriminalistische, biologische, medizinische und sozialwissenschaftliche Diskurse über die Genese von kriminellen Identitäten vereinte. Dem zeitgenössischen Sicherheitsempfinden gemä ermöglichte das Wissen, um die besonderen physiologischen Erscheinungen eines Menschen Aufschluss über seine delinquente Veranlagung zu geben.
