Dieses Buch zeigt auf, welche Möglichkeiten Pflegeheimen dafür zur Verfügung stehen und in welchem kulturellen, sozialen und ethischen Rahmen sich eine Abschieds- und Sterbekultur vollzieht. Dabei werden auch schwierige Themen wie Suizidwünsche von Heimbewohnern, der Umgang mit Patientenverfügungen und Rituale zur Bewältigung von Abschied und Trauer diskutiert. Basis dafür bilden die Erfahrungen, die in einem Projekt zum Thema in der Bethesda Pflege-Residenz in Küsnacht gesammelt worden sind. Reich illustriert vermittelt das Buch die Grundzüge eines humanen Umgangs mit einer existenziellen Herausforderung jedes Menschen.
