Without a transcendent standard or source, pursuits and values are delusions of the human species. The information required for the intricate complexity of the universe, from nothing or chaos to life on earth and the structure of the cosmos, has no contributor in the absence of a transcendent intelligence. In the year of his death in 1955, the revered scientist Albert Einstein clarified his formerly ambiguous views: "My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble minds. That deeply emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God" (Calaprice, ed., The Ultimate Quotable Einstein, Princeton, 2010, p.325).

Daniel Keeran lives with his wife Jennie in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and sometimes in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. Born in 1947 in Marion, Ohio, he is the youngest of four sons and the father of Phoebe and Seth. A practicing psychotherapist since 1976, he is currently engaged in writing, research, and community awareness related to homelessness. In 1985, he founded the Counsellor Training Institute that expanded to five cities. He is a graduate of David Lipscomb University (BA, European History), the University of Kentucky (MA, Russian History), and Kent School of Social Work, University of Louisville (MSW, Clinical Social Work). He has also written Effective Counseling Skills, Personal Counseling Journal, Ancient and Medieval Baptismal Fonts, and Radical Christianity: Peace and Justice in the New Testament.
