That's what happened to Punkin when the author, Sondra Gray, and her husband, Walter, found her on a loading dock just before what would ultimately have been the end of her dreary life and turned her into a trucker. According to Punkin is an enchanting book for the young and the young at heart in which Punkin "tells" the story of her life on a big rig. It is all based on actual occurrences and Sondra's perception of Punkin's cattitudes and actions. It includes informative details of trucking and also of the care and respect of pets. Punkin tells how she met her handsome boyfriend, Promise, and relates the story of when they adopted a big dog, Phoenix, which opens the door for the second book in the series, According to Phoenix.

Gray, Sondra: - Sondra was born and raised in Boaz, a small town in northern Alabama, where she attended school and college. She met Walter and they were married in l964. Shortly afterward, they moved to Hunts-ville where she continued her education at the University of Alabama. Walter passed away in 2019. They have three sons and five grandchil-dren. They were independent truckers, leased to a company in Missouri where Sondra currently resides. She attends Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Buffalo, MO where she is pianist. Although she has been writing short stories and poetry primarily for young readers for a number of years, Accord-ing to Punkin is her first book. In her spare time, she does a variety of crafts, such as sewing. She enjoys a number of hobbies including camping, riding motorcycles, and gardening, but her favorite one is writing.
