Da bei Polyaeryl- und Polymethaerylver- bindungen im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen synthetisehen Hoeh- polymeren wegen der Vielzahl der Monomeren die ehemisehen Probleme im Vordergrund stehen, wurde besonders auf das ehemisehe Verhalten der einzelnen Vertreter eingegangen und aueh die Bildungsweisen der Monomeren ausfiihrlieher behandelt. Die Physik der Polymerisate istauf wenige Hinweise besehrankt; eingehende DarsteHungen finden sieh bereits in den Banden 6 und 7 der vorliegenden Reihe sowie in Band 3 unO. 4 der Reihe "Die Physik der Hoehpolymeren" im gleiehen Verlag. Die ersten Absehnitte dieses Buehes bringen die Herstellung und die Reaktionen der Monomeren, es folgen Analytik und Umgang mit den RohstofIen und ein Kapitel tiber die physikalisehen Eigensehaften der Monomeren, die in mehreren Tabellen zusammengefaBt sind. Die Herstellung der Monomeren dureh Oxydation von Olefinen ge- winnt immer mehr an Bedeutung, weshalb diesen modernen Verfahren ein besonderes Kapitel mit einer ausfiihrlichen Literaturzusammenstel- lung gewidmet ist. Dureh die vorliegende Einteilung sollte das Gemeinsame der Aeryl- und Methaerylverbindungen besonders betont und Uberschneidungen vermieden werden.
