Aesopra Indrajala (The Magic of Aesop) is a collection of hundred fables that presents a twenty-first century twist to Aesop's works. This collection revisits Aesop and introspects the social milieu and existential crisis through a contemporary lens. This anthology is a confluence of the vibrant heterogeneity of ancient and modern that intertwines the distinct elements of both and introduces a new genre in the universe of short fiction. Aesopra Indrajala unfolds a multi-layered reading of the traditional Aesop. Individual stories have been interpreted simultaneously from various viewpoints making it a rare contribution to the Indian literary panorama. This fables of fables is rich in allegorical expressions and suggestive language. In a world where humanity is gradually losing its sheen this collection invokes the age-old consciousness of compassion and empathy.

Pattanaik, Kailash: - Kailash Pattanaik (1957-) is one of the most powerful writers of Odia literature who has left an indelible mark in the Indian fictionscape through his reconceptualization of fables and parables in the contemporary context. Despite being a reclusive writer he is widely read and is appreciated for his creativity and innovative style. His love for unconventional narrative and his ability to view time and civilization from a symbolic stand point has initiated some serious academic discourse. His only novel Sthabara Jangama (Static Kinetic), a green bestseller is devoid of any human characters, a rarity in Indian literature. His eight fiction collection has consolidated his position as an author who loves engaging in strong social commentary. Apart from fiction, he has more than 15 books on literary criticism to his credit. Kailash Pattanaik is a Professor of Odia Language & Literature at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, India.
