Cultural competency respecting education, health, and social development has been established as a national and global objective through government initiatives. This has included more attention to reducing health disparities through technology. Respecting African Americans, the resource pool of health providers made available for disparity-reduction has remained limited. It has been concluded that comprehensive solutions for improvements must include initiatives targeted at their underserved communities, and responsibly aimed at meeting their needs through the workforce development goals embedded within the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health ACT, or HITECH. There has remained a need to modify the exposure, recruitment, and attrition schemes throughout the entire educational spectrum related to desired pre-requisites for wide-spread HIT adoption, i.e. INFORMATICS. It was my aim for this reference to remain respectfully brief yet comprehensive enough to be applicable throughout the entire spectrum of academic, professional, community, and government stakeholders.

Dr. Wyatt holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery and a Master of Science in Health Informatics degree. For over 20 years he has delivered care within a wide range of health care settings to include private, military, government, state, academic, and non-profit organizations as a solo-practitioner, officer, employee, and volunteer provider. His perspectives respecting disparity reduction through technology are rooted in the common alternative thinking methods that have challenged our society's culture for networked communication. It is his belief that the meaningful use of evolving technology will continue to broaden the appeal and field of career alternatives for minorities into health care and other professional disciplines as vested community stakeholders.
