Das letzte Dezennium der klinischen Strahlentherapie war vor allem gekenn zeichnet durch zunehmende technische und apparative Vervollkommnung der Gerate zur Erzeugung hochenergetischer Elektronen, ultraharter Bremsstrahlung oder Gammastrahlung radioaktiver Isotope als Quellen zur Teletherapie. So sind wir heute in der Lage, mit Kreis- oder Linearbeschleunigern Elektronen und Bremsstrahlung bis zu einer Energie von 50 Me V zu erzeugen und therapeutisch zu nutzen. Weiterhin brachten die Verbesserung der Dosimetrie durch Einfiihrung korperaquivalenter Phantome und subtilerer MeBmethoden sowie die Ausnutzung digitaler Rechenautomaten ein nahezu nicht mehr zu steigerndes MaB von Exakt heit bei der Bestrahlungsplanung zur optimalen Anordnung der hochsten Dosis konzentration unter weitgehender Schonung gesunder Organe im Sinne einer Verbesserung des Verhaltnisses von Herd- und Raumdosis. Zahlreiche methodische Besonderheiten, wie die Bewegungsbestrahlung, Anwendung von Sieben oder Keilfiltern, motorische Bewegung des Bestrahlungstisches wahrend der Bewe gungsbestrahlung und andere MaBnahmen, sind ebenso wie die lokale Kontakt therapie mit Radium und anderen Isotopen hinsichtIich des Umfanges ihrer An wendung wesentlich eingeengt, jedoch nicht iiberfliissig geworden. Hier schlen die Kurve der Aufwartsbewegung in der Fortentwicklung der Strahlentherapie lang sam in ein Plateau iiberzugehen, aber es zeichnete sich in Jetzter Zeit ab, daB auch die Radiobiologie und -physik diese Aufwartsbewegung noch in Gang halten diirften. Es sei hierbei nur an die Ausnutzung des Sauerstoffeffektes bei Be strahlung unter Sauerstoffiiberdruck, die Ausschaltung des Sauerstoffeffektes durch Anwendung anderer Strahlenarten wie Neutronen und n-Mesonen oder die Varia tion der Einzel- und Gesamtdosierung erwahnt, die durch neuere Untersuchungen wieder in FluB geraten zu sein scheint."
