El objetivo de este trabajo sobre Álgebra Lineal es que sirva como libro texto para estudiantes de nivel licenciatura que por primera vez estudian este tema de gran importancia, tanto por su contenido teórico como por la gran cantidad de aplicaciones que tiene en las diferentes disciplinas del conocimiento humano.El texto se ha dividido en tres apartados; en el Capítulo 1 se presentan las herramientas y los métodos utilizados en álgebra lineal, particularmente el de Gauss y Gauss-Jordan para resolver e interpretar las soluciones de un sistema de ecuaciones lineales. También se introduce el concepto de determinante, así como los diferentes métodos para calcularlo, además de estudiar sus propiedades.El Capítulo 2 se da una breve introducción al concepto de vector y sobre todo a su generalización, analizando con detalle las propiedades de espacio y subespacio vectorial. También son tratados los conceptos de base y dimensión; de igual forma se estudia el proceso para la construcción de bases ortonormales, y para finalizar se trata el tema de cambio de base.El Capítulo 3 trata sobre el concepto de transformaciones lineales y las diferentes formas de representarlas, así como el análisis de sus elementos como son el núcleo y el conjunto imagen. Se estudia igualmente el problema de valores y vectores propios y su aplicación directa en el proceso de diagonalización de matrices. Se usa el concepto de diagonalización para hacer un breve estudio de las formas cuadráticas y su aplicación a problemas de tipo geométrico.Se incluyen un conjunto de problemas al final de cada capítulo, con el fin de que el estudiante refuerce los temas aprendidos, en uno de los apéndices se da la resolución completa de algunos ejercicios propuestos.
