L'impostazione didattica è al tempo stesso rigorosa ed accessibile, pensata per studenti che desiderano comprendere a fondo le nozioni fondamentali dell'algebra lineare. I concetti più impegnativi vengono ogni volta introdotti quando la maturità del lettore, sviluppata dallo studio già compiuto, è pronta ad assimilarli con difficoltà facilmente superabili. Viene proposta una ricca e variegata selezione di esercizi (circa 900), dal molto semplice al quasi impossibile, da quelli utili a fissare e meglio comprendere i concetti esposti a quelli, la maggioranza, intellettualmente stimolanti. Le soluzioni di alcuni esercizi sono fornite in un capitolo dedicato, facilitando l'autoverifica da parte dello studente. Molti capitoli si concludono con una sezione di complementi, che approfondiscono argomenti correlati o offrono spunti per ulteriori riflessioni. L'autore ha dedicato grande cura nel rendere le dimostrazioni le più semplici ed accessibili possibile e nell'offrire diversi percorsi di lettura, dal più semplice, che comprende le nozioni base, a quelli più difficili, che comprendono in aggiunta concetti più astratti e di maggiore complessità.

Marco Manetti (1966) ha studiato matematica presso l'Università di Pisa e la Scuola Normale Superiore. Dal 2001 è professore ordinario di Geometria presso la Sapienza Università di Roma. I suoi interessi di ricerca riguardano la geometria algebrica ed i metodi omotopici in teoria delle deformazioni e teoria di Lie. È autore dei libri "Topologia'' e ''Lie methods in deformation theory'', entrambi pubblicati con la Springer.
