Alice and her friends can have it all in worlds they create themselves in virtual reality, but the question becomes - why come back and experience the real world at all?

Seventeen-year-old Alice lives under a dome that protects thousands in her community from storms and the devastating violence of a desolate future. Evermoor has public transportation, healthy food, communal crops, and technology available for all, but there is restlessness among the teenagers in this utopian world. Many feel trapped inside the dome and some―including Alice and her best friend, Laney-only want to escape into a new form of virtual reality called EVR. In EVR, teens create their own personal worlds, exactly as they'd wish them to be, so real that many are losing interest in their actual lives.

Alice's family members were the gatekeepers before Evermoor's gates closed permanently, and she knows truths about the lost world that her peers don't. When two brothers and their grandmother from outside the dome help her father, she is brought into their very real, seemingly backwards and dangerous world. But even as she draws close to one of the brothers, EVR still threatens to overtake her.

A romantic, dystopian, young adult adventure into an escapist, addicted society, Alice in Evermoor investigates the challenge of being present in all life's disappointments and gaping imperfections, when escape is only a thought away, yet presence, the only place where true change and fulfillment are possible.

Huss, Karen: - Karen Huss grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She's always loved stories and storytelling. When she was a child, she loved fairy tales (especially the violent ones). As a writer, she relishes creating circumstances completely different from her own, while at the same time exploring themes she struggles with and are close to her heart. Besides writing, she enjoys photography and painting. She raised a family in a house surrounded by farm fields and prairie grasses, but now, along with her faithful, but hyper Boston Terrier, she's returned to the Minneapolis area.
