Aunt Josie, with her passion for the colour red, and Welsh poetry, is unused to children and has a lot to learn - and neither punctuality, baking, nor getting up in the morning are top of her agenda. When, Mrs Buttercup, Alicia's new teacher, announces a series of competitions culminating in a Bring Your Pet to School Day, there is only one thing on Alicia's mind.

With plenty of high jinks, laughter, and jollity will Alicia finally find a best friend, and will Aunt Josie succeed in the race to find her niece a pet to borrow for the day?

Lots of surprises are in store, when the outcome of her mum's operation is revealed, and the family are thrown into coming up with a solution that will change all their lives forever.
