Im April 2013 stürzt sich die Autorin völlig unerfahren, aber mit gro em Enthusiasmus in das Abenteuer Jakobsweg. Für sie kommt nur eine Route in Frage: Der Camino de la Costa und der Camino del Norte in Spanien. Ihr Weg führt sie durch das Baskenland, Kantabrien, das Fürstentum Asturien und Galicien. Was sie bei ihrem Start in San Sebastian noch nicht ahnt: Eine Aneinanderreihung unglücklicher Umstände zwingt sie, ihr Projekt nach fünfundzwanzig Tagen in Aviles abzubrechen. Ein Jahr später im Frühjahr 2014, macht sich Karin W. erneut auf den Weg nach Spanien, um ihre Pilgerreise fortzusetzen - und in Santiago de Compostela glücklich zu beenden. Im Gepäck hat sie diesmal nicht nur eine Wetter unabhängige Ausrüstung, sondern vor allem den Vorsatz, die Fehler vom vorangegangenen Jahr nicht zu wiederholen. Die Reise steht diesmal unter einem guten Stern, und auch die Wetterbedingungen sind vielversprechend. Mit einer neuen, selbstbewussten Gelassenheit, der unschätzbaren Unterstützung ihrer Pilgerfreunde und einem gesunden Ehrgeiz erreicht sie im Mai 2014 ihr Ziel Santiago de Compostela. Insgesamt hat die Autorin in sechseinhalb Wochen 800km zurückgelegt. Der spanische Nordweg ist unter Pilgern noch ein Geheimtip, gewinnt aber zunehmend an Beliebtheit. Für Pilger-Greenhorns ist er eine echte Herausforderung. Der Pilgerweg im Norden Spaniens besticht nicht nur durch seine landschaftlich herbe Schönheit und einem feuchten Klima, sondern auch durch so manche schwei treibende und längere Etappe. Das Herbergs-Angebot ist noch ausbaufähig, wird aber mit der zunehmenden Zahl der Pilger auf dem Nordweg stetig erweitert. In ihrem Erfahrungsbericht verzichtet die Autorin weitestgehend auf detaillierte Wegbeschreibungen. Stattdessen lä t sie den Leser teilhaben an allen schönen wie auch weniger schönen Begebenheiten auf ihrer Pilgerreise. Nicht ohne ihre Schilderungen mit einer Prise Selbstironie und Situationskomik zu würzen.
