Die Hersteller dieser Geräte produzieren immer leistungsfähigere Produkte, die sparsam mit natürlichen Ressourcen umgehen. Doch haben sie auch an das Ende des Product-Life-Cycles gedacht? Was geschieht am Ende eines Produktlebens? Ab auf die Halde, in die Verbrennung oder einfach an den Stra enrand? Ganz so einfach ist es leider nicht. Abgesehen davon, dass die illegale Entsorgung strafrechtliche Folgen haben kann, gibt es eine sinnvolle Alternative: Elektro- und Elektronikschrottrecycling. Schrott ist jedem aus der Umgangssprache vertraut. Es handelt sich um "altes Eisen", also Geräte, die defekt auf dem Schrottplatz landen. Elektronikschrott ist eine komplexe Mischung aus elektrischen, elektronischen und sonstigen Bauteilen. Um den Umgang mit den Begriffen zu erleichtern, verstehe ich Elektronikschrott inklusive Elektroschrott. Es wird zwischen Alt- und Neuschrott unterschieden. Altschrott sind defekte oder technisch veraltete Geräte. Produktionsabfälle werden als Neuschrott bezeichnet, der oft in den Herstellerbetrieben wieder dem Produktkreislauf zugeführt wird. Die Produkte, die zum Elektronikschrott gezählt werden, sind vielfältig. Lesen Sie bitte aufmerksam die Beispiele. Bei einigen Geräten kämen Sie vielleicht gar nicht auf die Idee, dass sie zum Elektronikschrott zählen.
