Dies liegt nicht zuletzt daran, da es nicht einfach ist, aus dem um- fangreichen Stoff und den gegenwärtigen Erkenntnissen die für praktisch tätige Zahnmediziner notwendigen Fak- ten hervorzuheben und in entsprechendem Umfang abzu- handeln. Wir haben uns bei der Auseinandersetzung mit diesem Problem auf Erfahrungen aus langjährigem Unter- richt für Zahnmediziner sowie auf Beratung mit Studieren- den und Zahnärzten gestützt. Das vorliegende Buch enthält einige Kapitel, die nicht unbedingt in die Allgemeine Chirurgie gehören; dennoch meinen wir, da diese Erläuterungen einem Zahnarzt von Nutzen sein werden. Bei der Abhandlung von anderen Ka- piteln war uns der Gegenstandskatalog ein Wegweiser. In einigen Fragen aber schienen uns die Anforderungen des Katalogs unzureichend, weshalb diese Themen ausführli- cher dargestellt wurden. Wir hoffen, es ist uns mit diesem Buch gelungen, die Allgemeine Chirurgie den Bedürfnissen der Zahnmedizi- ner entsprechend zu präsentieren. Wir nehmen Kritik und Anregungen dankbar entgegen.
