Volume 2 of Sir David S Owens ancestry contains the family groups of the first 25 generations; even though there are more than 125 generations identified and available on Ancestry.com.. Most people can trace their ancestry back to the royal houses of Great Britain and Europe simply because of "survival of the fittest." Only the wealthy could afford the resources necessary to survive the numerous plagues, droughts and natural disasters and wars that plagued the Middle Ages. Although families were often very large, many of the children died young from disease. Even so, genealogy is a life-long pursuit and there is always more to do. It should be noted that most records end about 1500 and before that lineages are based are medieval texts, heraldry records, land probates records, and legend. One of those legends in David's genealogy is that of the Campbell Clan of Scotland being descended from King Arthur. It goes even further back to Roman times.. While this line certainly can't be proven, it's fun to consider the times our ancestors must have lived through. The front cover is a photo of Chillingham Castle in Scotland, the home of Bennett family. It has a long 'haunted' history and is still open today for tours.
