"Yea! Bawa! Bawa! We finding Bawa!""Well, she's optimistic," said Craig. "I hope I find similar reason to be excited once we arrive.""Dude," responded J'ren, "if Brick is coming to her, like he did me, how could we go wrong?""If...if Brick is...do you hear yourself? You really think Brick is communicating with you...and her? You know, this whole thing is, if not weird enough, we also need to believe that what...a mystical, hobbled hermit that lives in the southern California mountains is guiding us through a cross-country journey, coming to you in dreams, and now informing a four-year-old orphan who he's never met through her dreams as well? In search of a mythological something called a Bawa? Are you freakin'...?""What, that's weird to you? That is weird? Not that we are both former zombies and the world almost ended because of the virus that caused us to become zombies or that a third of the world died, another third is still zombie, and the rest of us are trying to not be zombies again. Zombies. Say that out loud twenty times and tell me it doesn't sound ridiculous. Zombies, zombies, zombies, zombies...but you think Brick communicating through ESP or whatever is weird? You're weird. I was a zombie for seven years and I'm still pregnant. That's weird."The Seven Year War is over. Zombies are contained in states-wide internment territories called Zombie Zones. A permanent cure is still years off and the reorganized government of the United States of North America is led by a separatist faction of human society, the Pures, the minority who have never been infected with the virus. But are the Pures acting on behalf of the general population, the 90% of society that have been infected by the virus, those were or still are zombies, or are they planning a genocide, desiring to repopulate the country and planet with and for only those with untainted genes? In the Zombie Zone of California, two zombies experience spontaneous remission. Human again, the unfamiliar duo of J'ren and Craig pair up for the long and perilous journey through the Zombie Zones and the military occupied regions of the country to J'ren's home state of New Jersey. J'ren's remission seven years stint as a zombie which she began as a pregnant teen. The now twenty-four-year-old seeks her home, her family, and to find out if she really is still be pregnant, how, and whether her baby is human or zombie.Travis, a young, successful, reluctant government employee walks the tight rope between his Pure employer, the President of the USNA Elinor Chase-Sandow, and his nemesis, the King of the Zombie Zones, Asferrato. Asferrato is keeping watch over Travis's sister Jessie who has been a zombie in the Zones for several years. Travis wants to secure her release but can't until she is cured. Knowing he has the upper hand, Asferrato, who Travis suspects is intentionally keeping Jessie ill, will only protect Jessie for as long as Travis does what Asferrato wants. With Travis's help, a trio of zombies, including Asferrato's underboss Ranguild, attempt to escape the Zombie Zones. Their gambit takes them into the human regions where Zs can be killed without legal repercussions and ends in a showdown with the military in an abandoned Nebraska town. Many die. Few go home.Exciting, horrific, funny, heartwarming, thought-provoking and timely, ...and Justice for Zombies is peppered with lively characters including Brick, the one-legged mystic who lives in the Zombie Zones and secretly aids our heroes on their journeys; Madeleine, the four-year-old former zombie that J'ren and Craig meet on their way cross-country; and the stray golden retriever. ...and Justice for Zombies will keep you guessing, turning pages, thinking about the world we live in and the one it might become, and might make you jump the next time you hear a strange noise.
