Tara Samples is a fighter. Her life story is the personification of struggle and strength, navigating a complicated childhood that included living in a home steeped in both love and in violence. She graduated from high school despite the doubters and went on to attend The University of Akron and The Academy of Court Reporting, majoring in Political Science and Paralegal Studies. As political activist Helen Keller once said, "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it." Tara Samples is an overcomer. And in this piercingly powerful memoir, And they Said I Didn't Matter, she shares the raw and rich story of her journey thus far. From teenage mother to Akron City Council member, Tara is an inspiration.
