Currin, Dnp Aprn: - Katina has practiced as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) for over 14 years. As a CRNA, registered nurse, and respiratory therapist in the hospital, ambulatory, and specialty care settings like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, pediatrics has been the center of her patient population. Katina has first-hand experience with the negative emotions- fear, anxiety, and feeling overwhelmed, that children and families experience in unfamiliar settings, namely hospitalization related to illness and surgery requiring general anesthesia. Her primary goal is to promote health literacy by providing reading material for the pediatric population. She has self-published five children's books that prepare kids for what to expect before arrival on the day of surgery. She takes the fear out of receiving anesthesia by offering picture books, chapter books, coloring & activity books, a Pretend & Play Bundle for hands-on preparation, and a teacher curriculum for pre-K students.Katina currently practices in Metro Atlanta and lives with her husband, Joseph, in Cobb County, GA. When she's not putting patients to sleep, she can be found writing, gardening, or traveling.
