Das vorliegende Taschenbuch ist das erste einer Reihe von vier Taschenbtichern, in denen ein viersemestriger Vorlesungszyklus nieder- gelegt ist, den ich tiber viele Jahre an der Universitiit Wtirzburg gehalten habe. Das Zie1 dieser Vorlesungen ist, den Studierenden der Physik einen umfassenden Uberblick tiber das mit elektronischen Vorgiingen verkntipfte physikalische Geschehen und seine Anwendungen zu geben. Hierbei habe ich mich von der Vorstellung lei ten lassen, die Grundlagen moglichst transparent in ihren Zusammenhiingen darzustellen, um im Gediichtnis leicht iu speichernde Informationen zu vermitteln, die bei Bedarf das Fundament fUr das Aneignen vertiefter Spezialkenntnisse ermoglichen. Diesem Ziel dient die Gliederung des Inhaltes der vier Taschenbiicher, der in Band I die Phiinomene der elektronischen Leitung und der Elektronenoptik behandelt, fUr den in Band II die Beschreibung elektronischer Bauelemente und Geriite sowie eine Ein- fUhrung in die Vierpoltheorie vorgesehen ist, der in Band III eine Dar- stellung der Strahlungselektronik und Hochfrequenztechnik bringt und schlieBlich in Band IV in die Kybernetik und Informationselek- tronik einfUhren wird. Der weitgespannte Rahmen macht es schwierig, fUr dieses Vorlesungs-und damit auch fUr das Buchvorhaben eine Sam- melbezeichnung zu finden. Mir schien die Benennung "Angewandte Elektronik" unter den sich anbietenden Moglichkeiten die optimale. Der Anklang, den diese Vorlesungen bei den Studierenden fanden, und die sehr gute Aufnahriieder VeroffentIlclil. lngen von Teilgebieten meiner Vorlesungen haben mich zu dieser Gesamtdarstellung ermutigt.
