Swiss best seller and modern classic based on the true story of the last woman convicted of witchcraft in Europe. Independent and self-confident, Anna Gö ldin is not what is expected of a servant of her time, and the resentment that her audacity arouses in the upper class of the canton of Glarus ends up being her undoing: when the girl in her care begins spitting out needles, the local authority, judge and party, decides that she is a witch and is sentenced to die. In this modern classic of Swiss literature, Eveline Hasler examines how a conviction for witchcraft, historically known as "the judicial murder of Anna Gö ldin", could have taken place in the heart of Europe during the height of the Enlightenment. A novel that reveals the terror policies of a society obsessed with maintaining control and power at the expense of minorities. A historical testimony of violence against women.

Eveline Hasler (Glaris, 1933) lives in Ticino, in southern Switzerland and studied Psychology and History at the universities of Freiburg and Paris. She worked as a professor at St. Gallen and is an honorary doctorate from the University of Bern. She has published more than forty titles of children's and youth literature, as well as twenty books of fiction and poetry. Her work has been translated into twelve languages and awarded multiple times. "Anna Gö ldin. The Last Witch" enjoyed immediate commercial success, and was made into a film in 1991. José Aní bal Campos (Havana, 1965) is a Germanist, translator and essayist. Since 2007 he is the Spanish translator of Peter Stamm, from whom he has translated 7 books, including novels and short stories. Since 2009 he has specialized in the work of Gregor von Rezzori, from whom he has translated 4 books (3 novels and a book of short stories). From 2017 to 2021 he was the coordinator of the team of translators that worked on the Spanish edition of the Writings of Alexander von Humboldt (Berna Edition).
