Since its inception in 2015, Applied Cognitive Construction Grammar (ACCxG) has evolved significantly, moving beyond traditional Cognitive Construction Grammar (tCCxG, Goldberg 1995, 2006, 2019) and its reliance on statistical learning. The early influence of Goldbergian frameworks has been replaced by a more agentive, predictive, and materially grounded view of language.

ACCxG no longer treats language as a combinatory symbolic system shaped by frequency-based adjustments. Instead, it conceptualizes meaning as emerging from semiotic agency, predictive inference, and material anchoring. This perspective, informed by Peircean semiotics and Fristonian active inference, emphasizes how linguistic constructions arise dynamically from embodied cognition rather than from probabilistic distributions.

A key shift in ACCxG is its pedagogical focus. Early approaches relied on corpus-based statistical modeling, but today's framework integrates artificial intelligence, using large language models to generate targeted linguistic data for instructional purposes. This transition allows a more systematic evaluation of AI-generated language versus contextualized human usage.

This book is structured in three parts: theoretical foundations, cognitive pedagogical grammar, and practical applications of phrasal verbs. ACCxG ultimately redefines language as a cognitive tool for predictive modeling, thereby challenging conventional views and offering a novel approach to both linguistic theory and classroom instruction.
