Additional units and readings address the concept of culture, cultural relativism, Milton J. Bennett's developmental model of intercultural sensitivity, the relationship between diversity and democracy, and diversity training and the college experience. Students learn about the social construction of race, social class-based diversity, and diversity involving gender and gender identity. The closing unit examines religious diversity. Editor's introductions and post-reading questions throughout the anthology increase student engagement and retention of the material.

About The Author

Muller, Ray: - Ray Muller is a professor of sociology at East Stroudsburg University. His teaching interests include sociological theory, sociology of diversity, religion, social problems, and critical criminology. His research interests focus on the sociology of teaching and learning, the sociology of diversity, and race and ethnicity. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in sociology from Boston College and a B.A. in sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
