El objetivo principal de este manual es contribuir a la concienciación y construcción de espacios y experiencias significativas de aprendizaje y de servicio a la sociedad desde la universidad, con aplicación específica al ámbito de la discapacidad y la dependencia.

Este manual de orientación a la docencia universitaria (desde una perspectiva feminista y anticapitalista) es una propuesta introductoria y una aproximación pedagógica a la discapacidad, a la diversidad funcional y a las capacidades diversas desde un marco crítico de discriminaciones múltiples que incapacitan y discapacitan a las personas y su entorno, más allá de las limitaciones físico-biológicas y funcionales concretas.

Porque, como afirma Itxi Guerra: "El sistema capacitista es aquel que discrimina, violenta y asesina a las personas discapacitadas por el hecho de serlo. Surge del sistema capitalista al concebir a las personas según su capacidad de producción de beneficios a través de su fuerza de trabajo" (Lucha contra el capacitismo, 2021).

Es una obra concebida como ejercicio teórico-práctico para el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje, que rememora y se inspira en la breve pero ilusionante historia de dos décadas de ASMIBA (fundada en 1981), asociación extremeña pacense pionera del asociacionismo de personas con discapacidad física.
