Vor dem Hintergrund steigender Studierenden- und Promoviertenzahlen sind die Beschäftigungsaussichten von Hochschulabsolvent: innen wieder stärker in den Fokus öffentlicher und wissenschaftlicher Diskussionen gerückt. Dabei steht häufig die Frage im Vordergrund, ob bzw. inwiefern Akademiker: innen eine adäquate Beschäftigung ausüben. Bisherige Forschungsarbeiten zur Beschäftigungs(in)adäquanz haben sich sehr einseitig mit diesem Thema beschäftigt und hauptsächlich niedrigere Qualifikationsniveaus in den Blick genommen. Umstritten ist zudem die Messung und Operationalisierung der Beschäftigungs(in)adäquanz. Ziel dieser Analyse ist es, die Beschäftigungssituation von Promovierten in Deutschland in den Blick zu nehmen und sich zum anderen kritisch mit der Messung der Beschäftigungsadäquanz auseinanderzusetzen. Mithilfe von Daten des DZHW-Promoviertenpanels 2014 kann festgestellt werden, dass sich zwar arbeitsmarktstrukturelle Gegebenheiten und somit die Arbeitsmarktsegmentierung als zumindest teilweise signifikante Indikatoren erweisen, aber erst eine differenzierte Betrachtung verschiedener Adäquanzformen eine angemessene Beurteilung der Beschäftigungsadäquanz ermöglicht.

Mara Osterburg studierte Sozialwissenschaften sowie Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft an der Leibniz Universität Hannover. Seit Januar 2022 ist sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin (Doktorandin) in der Abteilung Bildungsverläufe und Beschäftigung am Deutschen Zentrum für Hochschul- und Wissenschaftsforschung (DZHW) beschäftigt.
