I denne bog har jeg, af p dagogiske og didaktiske grunde, valgt arrangement på et klassisk/romantisk grundlag med stemmef ring og dissonansbehandling etc. passende til dette stil-idiom. Eksemplerne i bogen er udarbejdet på grundlag af tre Carl Nielsen sange med tilh rende becifring, arrangeret for henholdsvis strygekvartet, bl serkvintet og kor.
I de tre arrangementer er de klassiske akkompagnementsinstrumenter, såsom klaver, guitar, harpe og marimba etc. bevidst undgået, og i stedet arbejdes med melodiinstrumenter. Dette g res for at kunne arbejde indgående med de udfordringer der opstår, når et melodiinstrument skal akkompagnere et andet instrument.
De metoder og teknikker der benyttes i l bet af bogen, er baseret på mine erfaringer som komponist og som underviser i satsl re og arrangement på konservatoriet gennem mange år.
Igennem analyse og satsarbejde oparbejdes l serens forståelse og håndv rksm ssige kunnen i arrangement. Satsarbejdet illustreres med talrige eksempler, jeg har udarbejdet for at give et blik ind i det kompositoriske v rksted, og l seren f res gennem den kompositoriske proces, herunder de problemer der opstår samt afpr vning af mulige l sninger. På den måde kan han/hun udvikle og forfine sit håndv rk, i det intense arbejde med både detaljen og de store linjer i formen.
En vigtig del af at tilegne sig f rdigheder i komposition og arrangement, er at lytte, analysere og afpr ve, og så lytte, analysere og afpr ve igen.
