Artes poéticas españolas es una antología dirigida a los interesados en la historia de la poesía española. Ofrece una visión panorámica de las ideas y teorías que han conformado esta forma de arte, y es una especie de guía para los poetas actuales y futuros.

El Libro de la ciencia Gaya de Enrique de Villena es especialmente revelador. Muestra la tensión entre la forma y el fondo en la poesía del siglo XV, un tema que sigue siendo relevante hoy en día.
