Das Buch wendet sich an Studierende der Pharmazie sowie an interessierte Chemiker, Biologen und Mediziner. Dem praktischen Apotheker kann es zur Fort-und Weiterbildung sowie als Nachschlagewerk dienen. Den inhaltlichen Schwerpunkt bildet der "Spezielle Teil", in dem der Wissensstoff nach einer pharmakodynamisch-therapeutischen Systematik gegliedert ist, die im Grundsatz dem Gegenstandskatalog fur den Zweiten Abschnitt der Pharmazeutischen Priifung folgt. Diese Systematik wird durch ein fUr die einzelnen Kapitel weitgehend einheitliches Auf- bauprinzip ergiinzt, das eine geschlossene, monographieartige Priisentation der Wirkstoff- gruppen ermoglicht. Dies erleichtert ein "Quereinsteigen", das bei Gebrauch des Lehr- buchs neben Vorlesungen erforderlich sein kann. Hierbei werden auch die Textverweise von Vorteil sein. Es war ein besonderes Anliegen, Querverbindungen zu anderen Fachgebieten aufzuzei- gen, da das Vermitteln von Wissen uber den Arzneistoff eine interdiszipliniire Aufgabe darstellt. Die Systematik des Buches erlaubt eine zwanglose Einordnung pharmakologi- scher, gegebenenfalls auch physiologischer und mikrobiologischer Wissensinhalte, wo- durch die medizinische Zweckgebundenheit der Arzneistoffe verdeutlicht wird. Auf diese Weise kann eine Briicke zu Nachbarfiichern geschlagen und Anregung zum "integrierten Lernen" gegeben werden.
