Es la historia de Mauricio, que salió de su barrio bravo a balear a dos israelíes en Plaza Artz, revelando una red criminal de escala bicontinental.

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

This journalistic endeavor reads as a noir novel. A young man walks a path that eventually takes him deep into the dark. This story should have been just a bad dream about a merciless city that leads a simple drug dealer to perpetrate a double murder, with international consequences.

This book was supposed to be fiction: the story of a journalist who, by mere chance, ends up covering a deadly trip to the very heart of the night. But it is all true. Every word and every character, every hunt and every pointless situation, shape the portrait of a desperate, gunned down Mexico.

And Thus the Devil was Born is the story of Mawicho. Who ends up going to a training camp of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, while trying to give his daughter a better life. It is the story of Mauricio, who left his rough neighborhood to shoot two Israelis in Plaza Artz, thus exposing a criminal network on a bicontinental scale.

Emmanuel Gallardo (Ciudad de México, 1977) es egresado de la Escuela de Periodismo Carlos Septién García y del programa Prensa y Democracia (DDHH) de la Universidad Iberoamericana. Ha sido reportero de los periódicos El Sol de México y Capital, así como corresponsal y jefe del buró en México de la agencia holandesa RNW Media (antes Radio Nederland). Como reportero independiente especializado en temas de violencia y crimen organizado, su trabajo ha sido publicado en diferentes medios nacionales e internacionales, entre ellos The Daily Beast, Vice, Fusion, Excélsior, Sin Embargo, revista Domingo de El Universal y el portal de Proceso.
