Aufwachstationen eingerichtet worden, aber noch gehort der Aufwachraum nicht tiberall zu den unverzichtbaren N otwendigkeiten einer operativen Klinik. Neue Narkosemittel, neue Kombinationen, insbesondere die von Opioiden mit Psycho- pharmaka, ergeben neue Wirkungsprofile. Untersuchungen zur Pharmakodynamik und Pharmakokinetik dieser Mittel bzw. Mittelkombinationen fUhren uns zu neuen Einsichten in den Ablauf der Aufwachphase. Sie geben uns auch Erklarungen, weshalb mit Komplika- tionen jenseits des bisher als notwendig erachteten postanasthetischen Uberwachungszeit- raums gerechnet werden mu13.
