Die Arbeit gibt zuerst einen berblick ber die Wirtschafts- und Bankengeschichte sterreichs nach dem I.Weltkrieg und f hrt ber die Zeit der Inflation zur Sanierung der W hrung unter Bundeskanzler Ignaz Seipel bis zu den katastrophalen Bankenzusammenbr chen und zur Weltwirtschaftskrise.Im Rahmen des Kapitels ber den "New Deal" wird die zeitgleiche Entwicklung in den USA gestreift. In Exkursen wird auf die "Franc-Spekulation" des Jahres 1924 und auf das damals weltweit Aufsehen erregende Schwundgeldexperiment der Gemeinde W rgl (Tirol) eingegangen. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit wird die Geschichte der Lammerbank behandelt. Auguste Caroline Lammer, geb. Hofbauer, geb. 1885 in Wien als zweite Tochter einer Eisenbahnerfamilie, machte nach der Pflichtschule eine Banklehre in Braunau a. Inn und heiratete 1909 den Bahnhofvorstand von Attnang- Puchheim (Ober sterreich) Max Leopold Lammer, Ritter von Castell Rombaldo. Beide gr ndeten 1910 ein Reiseb ro und Bankgesch ft in Zell am See, das w hrend des I.Weltkrieges ruhte. 1918 folgte die Scheidung; Sohn Alfred wurde der Mutter zugesprochen. 1920 gr ndete Auguste Lammer zum zweiten Male ein Bankgesch ft, das 1935 in Konkurs ging. Auguste Lammer, eine zielstrebige und bis dahin sehr angesehene Frau wurde nun zu drei Jahren Haft verurteilt. Am 16.J nner 1937 starb sie w hrend der Haftzeit im Allgemeinen Krankenhaus in Wien.
