Augustus Does His Bit is a satirical play written by George Bernard Shaw. The story is set in London during World War I and follows the character of Augustus, a wealthy and idle young man who is forced to confront the realities of war when he is conscripted into the army. Despite his initial reluctance, Augustus soon becomes a model soldier and is even promoted to the rank of captain. However, his newfound sense of duty and patriotism is put to the test when he is tasked with leading a group of soldiers on a dangerous mission behind enemy lines. Along the way, Augustus grapples with the moral implications of war and the role of the individual in a larger conflict.
