Seit Version 12 besitzt AutoCAD eine MS-Windows-kompatible Benut- zungsoberfläche. Damit integriert es sich harmonisch in die Benutzungsober- fläche des Personalcomputers. Das Programm wird von allen für den Pe-Markt verfügbaren Graphikkarten, in der Regel sogar mit speziell optimierten Treibern unterstützt. Neue Produk- te werden sofort mit den für AutoCAD geeigneten Gerätetreibern ausgeliefert. Damit ist AutoCAD ein de facto Industriestandard. Die marktbeherrschende Position von AutoCAD als führendes CAD-System für Personalcomputer will Autodesk weiter ausbauen. Deshalb erfolgte im Ok- tober 1996 auch die Ankündigung. in Zukunft nur noch die Version für die Microsoft Betriebssysteme Windows95 und WindowsNT weiterzuentwickeln. AutoCAD ist mit seiner konsequenten Einbindung in die Benutzungsoberfläche der unterstützten Plattformen individuell auf alle Bedürfnisse an pa bar. Der Datenaustausch zwischen allen unterstützten Plattformen ist möglich.
