En este libro, en primer lugar, se hace una descripción sucinta de las principales enfermedades relacionadas con el consumo excesivo de hidratos de carbono (carbohidratos) según la dieta actual, como la obesidad, la diabetes, las alteraciones cardiovasculares, las afecciones neurológicas y la desmineralización. Después se centra en cómo estos alimentos representan un riesgo importante de contraer cualquier tipo de cáncer. Es un hecho reconocido que el azúcar y los hidratos de carbono no son sustancias cancerígenas, pero en cambio son un alimento para las células cancerosas y lo hacen de 5 maneras diferentes. Finalmente se dan unos consejos para llevar una vida saludable y reducir el riesgo de cáncer. AUTOR: AURELIO ZAMORA RODRÍGUEZ, es Licenciado en Ciencias Químicas. Recién terminada la Carrera ingresó en el Departamento de Investigación del Instituto de Biología y Sueroterapia (IBYS) en Madrid, dedicado a la investigación en el campo de la Inmunidad. Después de unos años se trasladó a Alemania para estudiar nuevas técnicas en este campo, y que continuó a su regreso a España en el mismo Instituto IBYS. Trabajó también en otro Laboratorio Farmacéutico donde elaboró un fármaco a base de silimarina, obtenida del cardo mariano para el tratamiento de enfermedades hepáticas, siendo el primer laboratorio español en comercializarlo. Otro campo al que se ha dedicado es al de vitaminas y minerales, sobre todo el calcio y el magnesio. Los últimos años de su vida laboral los ha realizado en una Empresa de Alimentación, dirigiendo el Departamento de Investigación y Desarrollo. Ha publicado en revistas diversos artículos de divulgación sobre nutrición y alimentación. Es miembro emérito de la Real Sociedad Española de Química.
