Das Buch ist in vier Teile untergliedert, führt vom Einsteigen über das Vertiefen zum Durchdringen und schlie t mit dem Orientieren ab. Es richtet sich an alle Einsteigerinnen und Einsteiger, die ein Basiswissen in Informatik erwerben und hinter die Kulissen der digitalen Welt schauen wollen. Damit die Computerwissenschaft kein Buch mit sieben Siegeln bleibt.

Die vorliegende 3. Auflage ist ergänzt um ein Kapitel zu gro en Sprachmodellen, das die Funktionsweise von modernen Chatbots beleuchtet.

Eckart Zitzler, geboren 1970 in Münster, studierte Informatik mit den Nebenfächern Psychologie und Betriebswirtschaftslehre an den Universitäten Oldenburg, Dortmund und Bochum, absolvierte die Ausbildung zum Informatiklehrer an der ETH Zürich und promovierte dort am Departement Elektrotechnik im Themengebiet Evolutionäre Algorithmen. Anschließend vertiefte er seine Forschungs- und Lehrtätigkeiten an der Nahtstelle von Informatik und Biologie, u. a. am Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, und arbeitete über sechs Jahre als Assistenzprofessor an der ETH Zürich. Sein Interesse für didaktische Themen führte ihn schließlich an die Pädagogische Hochschule Bern, wo er neun Jahre als Dozent tätig war und den Bereich Weiterbildungslehrgänge sowie den Bereich Medien und Informatik geleitet hat; des Weiteren unterrichtete er das Fach Informatik am Freien Gymnasium Bern. Heute arbeitet er als Vizedirektor und Leiter Forschung am Departement Informatik der Hochschule Luzern.
