Kaum ein anderer Bereich der Elektrotechnik hat sich in den ietzten 25 Jahren so schnell entwickelt wie die Halbleiterelektronik. Vorangetrieben durch neue Forschungsergeb- nisse der Festkorperphysik und durch eine sHindig verbesserte Technologie bei der Her- stellung von Halbleitern, waren zwei verschiedene Entwicklungsrichtungen zu beobach- ten. Einerseits geiang es, die Integration bis zu einigen 1000 Halbleiterbauelementen auf einem einzigen Kristall durchzufUhren und somit hochintegrierte Schaltkreise, insbe- sondere fUr die digitale Elektronik und Computertechnik, herzustellen, andererseits wurde dagegen eine Vielzahl von Halbleiterbauelementen mit speziellen Eigenschaften entwickelt, die fUr viele elektronische Probleme optimale Losungen gestatten. Wahrend nun im Teil 1 dieses Buches, der im Frtihjahr 1976 erschien, die Sachgebiete Dioden und bipolare Transistoren behandelt werden, enthalt der jetzt vorliegende Teil 2 die Bereiche Feldeffekt-Transistoren, weitere Spezialtransistoren, Thyristor-Bauelemente sowie das inzwischen sehr umfangreich gewordene Gebiet der Optoelektronik. Auch hier wird wieder wie in Teil 1 versucht, trotz der Vielzahl der Bauelemente den Lehr- buchcharakter zu wahren, urn den Studenten der Technischen Universitaten und der Fachhochschulen das Einarbeiten in dieses komplexe Stoffgebiet zu erleichtern. Das Buch kann deshalb gemeinsam mit Teil 1 als vorlesungsbegleitendes Lehrbuch benutzt werden, wobei der in den beiden Teilbanden zusammengetragene Stoff haufig tiber das in einer Elektronik-Vorlesung aus Zeitgrtinden Behandelbare hinausgeht. Die Bticher stellen deshalb auch eine wertvolle Erganzung zu dem in der Vorlesung behandelten Stoff dar und eignen sich fUr das Selbststudium. Ftir diesen Zweck ist die groBe Anzahl von detailliert durchgerechneten Beispielen vorteilhaft.
