Recognition and Modern Beagles
In the mid-1800s, the Beagle breed gained widespread recognition in England. The breed's popularity continued to rise, and they eventually made their way to the United States. The American Kennel Club (AKC) officially recognized the Beagle in 1885, classifying it as a hound breed.
Today, Beagles are cherished as family pets, companions, and working dogs.
