Bei der Stahlerzeugung nach dem Siemens-Martin-Verfahren allt als Nebenprodukt eine erhebliche Menge Schlacke an. Diese ging ruher wegen ihres hohen Eisen-und Mangangehaltes groBtenteils zum Hochofen zuruck. Heute werden fast ausschlieBlich hochwertige Erze im Hochofen eingesetzt, und der Anteil der Schlacken am Hochofen- moIler ist derart gesenkt, daB die Stahlwerke aus wirtschaftlichen Grunden gezwungen werden, andere Verwendungsmoglichkeiten fUr ihre Schlacken zu suchen. Auf Grund ihrer Zusammenarbeit ware ein Einsatz von Siemens-Martin-Schlacke im StraBenbau naheliegend. 1hre uneingeschrankte Verwendung ist aber ohne weiteres nicht moglich, da bei Schlacken Eigenschaften auftreten konnen, die ihren Einsatz im StraBenbau ausschlieBen oder aber beeintrachtigen. Hauptziel dieses Forschungsberichtes ist, Siemens-Martin-Schlacken auf solche Fehl- erscheinungen zu untersuchen und dazu beizutragen, dem StraBenbau eine neue Roh- stoffquelle zu erschlieBen. 2. Grundlagen der F rischreaktionen beim basischen SM -V erfahren Urn die Moglichkeit eines Einsatzes von SM-Schlacken im StraBenbau zu prufen und ihre Qualitat gegebenenfalls zu verbessern, ist die genaue Kenntnis ihrer Funktion, auf die nachfolgend naher eingegangen werden solI, erforderlich. Ziel der Frisch- reaktionen beim basischen SM -Verfahren ist es, die im Eisen gelosten unerwunschten Begleitelemente zu entfernen, urn auf diese Weise Stahl herzustellen. Grundsatzlich konnen die im Bad gelosten unerwunschten Eisenbegleiter entweder in Form einer festen oder flussigen Schlacke oder uber die Gasphase abgeschieden werden. 1m Falle der Verschlackung erfolgt die Bildung einer festen oder flussigen - meist oxidischen - Verbindung. Dabei werden die im Eisen gelosten Elemente bei der Frischreaktion durch Oxidation mittels Badsauerstoff in einen Zustand geringerer freier Energie uberfuhrt und in der Schlacke abgebunden [1].
