Ein bislang nur vereinzelt berücksichtigtes NVH-Thema stellt die Charakterisierung der Pkw-Dämpferreibung bei geringen Bewegungsamplituden dar, wo Untersuchungen ohne wechselseitige Beeinflussung im Gesamtbauteil erörtert werden. Ein aktueller Trend zur Reduzierung von Verschlei an Bremsscheiben besteht in ihrer Beschichtung. In einem Beitrag werden die Auswirkungen eines neuen Beschichtungsverfahrens auf Eigenfrequenz- und Dämpfungsverhalten der Komponenten diskutiert und zusätzlich in einem weiteren Kapitel die Untersuchungsmethodik zur Spannungsermittlung in beschichteten Bremsscheiben vorgestellt. Konkrete Lösungen zur Wirksamkeit von Hitzeschutzmaterialien gegen Strahlungs- und Konvektionswärme sind im letzten Artikel zu finden, um temperatursensible Fahrzeugkomponenten gegen Überlastung zu schützen.

Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ralph Mayer war von 2001 bis 2007 nach seinem Maschinenbaustudium als Wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Lehrstuhl für Fahrzeugtechnik der TU München tätig. Das Thema seiner Promotion im Jahr 2007 lautet "Bremseninduzierte Schwingungen am Kraftfahrzeug. Analysemethodik und konstruktive Optimierung". Bis 2014 arbeitete er in unterschiedlichen Bereichen der Fahrwerkentwicklung bei der Daimler AG in Sindelfingen. Seit 2014 ist er Inhaber der Professur Fahrzeugsystemdesign an der TU Chemnitz. Neben den Forschungsschwerpunkten in den Bereichen Fahrwerk und Fahrzeugkonzepte engagiert er sich als Leiter und Mitglied verschiedener Fachtagungen.
