Aus bildungspolitischer Sichtweise wurde in den vergangenen Jahren immer häufiger auf die Entstehung sozialer Unterschiede an Übergängen im stark gegliederten deutschen Schulsystem aufmerksam gemacht. Und auch die Wirtschaft meldet sich mit der Sorge um den notwendigen Fachkräftenachwuchses und sieht angesichts des demografischen Wandels und der als zu gering eingeschätzten Ausbildungsfähigkeit von Jugendlichen die wirtschaftliche Zukunftsfähigkeit als gefährdet. Interesse wird auch aus sozialpolitischer und finanzieller Sicht an den Übergängen in Ausbildung gezeigt, da Ausbildungslosigkeit häufig auch mit uregelmä iger Beschäftigung verbunden ist und immense Kosten verursacht. Ausgehend von den Schwierigkeiten am Übergang von der Schule in die berufliche Ausbildung, stellt sich die Frage, wie Jugendliche frühzeitig beim Prozess der Berufswahl und der Berufswahlentscheidung erfolgreich unterstützt werden können. Ausdruck findet dies in den zahlreichen aktuellen und abgeschlossenen Programmen und Projekten zum Thema Berufsorientierung und dem Übergang von der Schule in die Arbeits- und Erwerbswelt. Um den Bedarf an beruflicher Orientierung zu erfüllen, existieren zahlreiche Ma nahmen und Bestrebungen vieler formeller wie informeller Akteure. Schule kommt dabei die Rolle eines Moderators und Bindeglieds zwischen Ma nahmen, Jugendlichen und weiteren Akteuren wie Familie, Betrieben, Bundesagentur für Arbeit zu, da sie ein konstanter Akteur im Leben aller Jugendlichen ist.
