Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2001 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Soziales System und Sozialstruktur, Note: 1,3, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Institut für Sozialwissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Perspektiven der Bevölkerungsentwicklung: Welt, Europa, Deutschland, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit entstand im Rahmen des Proseminars "Perspektiven der Bevölkerungsentwicklung Welt, Europa, Deutschland", bei dem es im wesentlichen um das enorme Anwachsen der Weltbevölkerung und dessen wirtschaftliche, ökologische aber auch soziale und gesellschaftliche Auswirkungen ging. Parallel zu diesem, hauptsächlich die Entwicklungsländer betreffenden, Phänomen wurde auch das vermeintliche Paradoxon des gleichzeitig stattfindenden Bevölkerungsrückgangs in den wohlhabenden Industrieländern diskutiert. Mit diesem letztgenannten Thema wird sich meine Arbeit auseinandersetzen. Es geht dabei im speziellen um ein besonders interessantes und in dieser Form noch nicht da gewesenes Beispiel der demographischen Transformation, um den Bevölkerungsrückgang in Ostdeutschland, insbesondere ab den Wendejahren 1989/1990. Die Grenzöffnung zwischen Österreich und Ungarn im September 1989, der Fall der Berliner Mauer am 9. November 1989 und die bereits knapp ein Jahr später gefeierte deutsch-deutsche Wiedervereinigung am 3. Oktober 1990 zogen nicht nur weitreichende politische, ökonomische und soziale Konsequenzen für Ostdeutschland nach sich, sondern wirkten sich auch nahezu "implosionsartig" auf die Bevölkerungsentwicklung aus. Mehr als zwei Millionen Menschen haben seit Herbst 1989 die Deutsche Demokratische Republik beziehungsweise seit der Wiedervereinigung die fünf neuen Bundesländer Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt und Thüringen sowie den Ostteil Berlins verlassen, Ziel waren fast ausschlie lich die Alten Bundesländer.
