Im Unterricht liegt der Fokus meist auf der Bewertung mit Noten ohne Begründungen dieser. Zudem besteht eine Problematik bei der Bewertung von Grundschulkindern. Wie kann man beispielsweise Kindern, die aufgrund der persönlichen Entwicklung oder der fehlenden Erfahrung nicht in der Lage sind, Objekte perspektivisch einwandfrei zu zeichnen, eine schlechte Note hierfür geben? Aufgrund dessen stellt sich die Frage nach Leistungsbewertungsmethoden, die den künstlerischen Arbeiten der einzelnen Schüler im Kunstunterricht gerecht werden. Zu Beginn der Arbeit wird ein Einblick in die Grundlagen der Bewertung gegeben, um die Begriffe "Beurteilen", "Bewerten" und "Benoten" voneinander abzugrenzen und um Noten im gesellschaftlichen Kontext zu verstehen. Jede Lehrkraft sollte über die gesetzlichen Grundlagen der Bewertung und Benotung informiert sein, um die Bearbeitungsspielräume zu kennen und Grenzen sprengen zu können. Zudem werden Merkmale von Leistungsbewertungen erläutert, welchen sich die Lehrkraft bewusst sein sollte, um gerecht bewerten zu können. In Kapitel drei wird genauer auf die drei unterschiedlichen Kategorien von Leistungsbewertungsmethoden im Kunstunterricht eingegangen. Hier werden sowohl einige Beispiele für diese Kategorien gegeben als auch deren Vor- und Nachteile beschrieben, um eine gerechte Leistungsbewertungsmethode zu finden. Im letzten Teil der Arbeit werden die wichtigsten Erkenntnisse dargelegt und auf die Ausgangsfragestellung genauer eingegangen.
